MICAL NOELSON

MICAL NOELSON.JPG

Mical Noelson, originally from London and now based in Berlin, is an artist to keep an eye on within the Solana community. His diverse body of work spans various mediums, including paint on canvas, works on paper, digital fluid simulations and collage. What sets Mical apart is his ability to seamlessly blend physical and digital techniques, often working on multiple pieces simultaneously. He incorporates text from mythological narratives, historical events, or contemporary life into his titles and descriptions, resulting in a poetic fusion of visual and textual elements.

Mical’s creative process leaves behind tangible evidence: pressed fingerprints, scratches, paint spatter, and other physical marks. His use of pink tones pervades most of his recent practice, and adds an intriguing layer to his work. Through his compositions, Mical Noelson invites the viewer to engage with the abstract complexity, drawing inspiration from the deconstruction and reconstruction inherent in the natural world.

CHEPERTOM

Chepertom, whose real name is Thomas Collet, is a French glitch artist known for his unique approach to digital art. By manipulating pixels and intentionally corrupting files, he creates mesmerising artworks that challenge the conventional perception of digital media. Collet's process involves breaking down video files with code, deliberately distorting their structure to create unexpected visual effects. This method of glitching digital files reflects his interest in the fragility of the medium. Through his work, Collet aims to illustrate that digital media is not eternal; it is, in fact, susceptible to corruption and degradation.

Chepertom's art is more than just a visual experience, it’s a commentary on the vulnerabilities of digital technology. As Collet himself puts it, “Glitch art processes open a new narrative where digital doesn’t only produce tangible data but also generates artefacts through its destruction.” Thomas Collet's glitch art is a testament to the creativity that can emerge from embracing the imperfections. His works remind us that the digital realm, often seen as pristine and unassailable, has its own weaknesses and unique beauty when pushed to its limits.
